Imphal, September 19 2026: Security forces arrested six suspected Kuki militants from different parts of Kangpokpi district at around 4.30 pm today.

The arrested persons have been identified as Seilet, Manglen, Sathao, Lenlan, Gin and Chuchung.

As security forces reportedly attempted to take the arrested persons towards Imphal, a large number of Kuki people, including women, blocked the road at Motbung.

The protesters demanded the immediate release of the arrested persons.

The situation turned tense when some protesters attacked the security forces by pelting stones, petrol bombs.

In response, the security forces fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.

Another report said that Kuki women volunteers and armed militants from Kangpokpi Town mobilised a large group of people and attempted to storm the CRPF camp at Chawang-kining Village.

It was not known where the arrested persons were taken at the time of filing this report.
