Kakching, February 24 2022:
BJP fears of losing the public mandate and as such the state is seeing repeated campaigning by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union ministers, said CLP leader and former chief minister Okram Ibobi.
Addressing the attend ees at the flag hoisting ceremony of Indian National Congress candidate in Wabagai AC and sitting MLA Md Fajur Rahim held at his Irong Cheshaba Mathak residence on Thursday, O Ibobi stated that knowing that the people of the state have seen through their false promises, BJP is using all its forces including frequent campaigning by PM Modi and other Union ministers, even Union home minister Amit Shah had to do house to house campaign.
Contending that BJP is a communal party and it wants to divide Manipur and India into pieces, Ibobi asserted that in contrast Congress' backbone is secularism.
Since coming to power, BJP has been targeting minorities as it evident in Tripura where destructions were caused to places and recent eviction of thousands of people in the name of developing river banks from an area settled by minority community in Assam, he alleged.
Ibobi further asserted that to maintain its grip on power, BJP is using money and muscle power to win the forthcoming election.
Emphasising that people's vote is more powerful than guns and bombs, Ibobi said that if any poll violence occurs in Wabagai AC, then the culprits will be jailed as soon as the Congress forms the government.
He praised MLA Md Fajur Rahim for taking up programme for protecting river banks in the AC during Congress rule, which did not happen under BJP rule not only in the constituency but also in whole of state.
The programme was also attended by Assam CLP deputy leader Rakibul Hussain, AICC Minority Department national chairman Imran Pratapghari, AICC national coordinator and Bihar PCC Minority Department chairman Minnit Rahmani, AICC Minority Department former national chairman Imran Kidwai, Kakching AC INC candidate Ksh Kennedy, MPCC secretary Md Firoz Khan, DCC Kakching president Md Abdur Rahman, BCC Wabagai president Md Kheiruddin, among others.
