Taxation Dept conducts raid, checks E-way bills at NH-39

The Taxation Department conducted raids at four places at Churachandpur district on February 23 by the Enforcement team of the department.
As per a press statement from the Department of Taxes, Govt of Manipur, the raid was conducted at the godowns of M/s Amrit Traders, New Bazar Bus Parking Thangjam Road, M/S Budel Store, New Lamka, M/S Subhash Variety Store, Zion Street, New Bazar and M/S Leima Traders, New Bazar Bus Parking Thangjam Road to check the illegal holding of goods and freebies related to distribution for the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, 2022 .
During the raid grocery items and beverage items were found and the stock value ascertained from those items is amounting to Rs 10,33,93,602.00 (Rupees ten crore thirty three lakh ninety three thousand six hundred and two) only.
The department has taken necessary action to verify the documents and records.
Further the Department has served notices to all the dealers under Manipur Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the rules made thereunder.
It may be noted that on February 23, the flying squad team of the department also checked vehicular movement on National Highway No 39 .
The team checked 27 (twenty seven) vehicles and Rs.31,27,529.00 (Rupees thirty one lakh twenty seven thousand five hundred and twenty nine) only was verified from E-way bills and other documents.
The department has been continuously conducting raids of godowns/warehouses, checking movement of goods vehicles on the National Highways to ensure free and fair conduct of the upcoming election.
