Nurses are backbone of medical profession: Dr Rajo

The oath taking ceremony of College of Nursing, Medical Directorate along with Fresher's meet of 1st year BSc Nursing (2021-2022) batch and MSc 1st year nursing students (2021-22) was held at its conference hall on Thursday.
As chief guest of the function, health director Dr K Rajo said that the nursing students take the pledge in front of Florence Nightingale to cater to the needs of the patients.
Hailing the nurses as the backbone of medical profession, he said as there are vast scopes and specialties for nursing profession nursing students need to study hard and work for the people.
Recalling that the Nursing College was founded on November 5, 2012, Dr K Rajo informed that 200 BSc nursing students have passed.
With the inclusion of master programme since 2018, 12 students have already passed and 14 are pursuing MSc nursing.
The college is the first in the state to open MSc course, he continued.
Dr Rajo further said that the responsibility taken by the nurses during Covid pandemic is highly laudable.
He allayed the nursing students not to have any fear of dearth of employment after completing their studies.
Need for nurses will only increase with time, he added.
He maintained that people should not neglect Covid appropriate behaviour inspite of the improvement in the pandemic situation but continue to strictly follow all the safety guidelines and get fully vaccinated.
Most of the people who succumbed to Covid-19 were not fully vaccinated, said the director.
The function was attended by College of Nursing principal Prof N Nalinibala and joint director Lalbiekmoi as presidium members.
The fourth edition of Siroy Lily magazine published by the College of was also released during the function.
