Churachandpur, November 21 2022:
Manipur Hill District Disabled Union (MHDDU) has demanded that there should be clear-cut policy for reservation for persons with disability (PwD) in the upcoming recruitment for 750 posts under the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) .
In a memorandum submitted to Tribal Affairs & Hills deputy secretary on Monday, MHDDU pointed out that under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, it is mandatory to keep special reservation for socio-economic uplift of the PwDs and for their alleviation from poverty.
However, in the proposed recruitment for 750 posts under the six ADCs, there is no well defined policy for reservation of PwD.
As such, the Union has to beseech the TA&H deputy secretary for issuing the ADC recruitment advertisement afresh with proper reservation for PwD, it said.
MHDDU also submitted copies of the memorandum to social welfare minister, all heads of TA &H and social welfare departments, and commissioner (disabilities) .
