Training on scientific poultry farming held

Central Agricultural University (CAU), directorate of extension education and Humanism Foundation jointly organised a one-day training programme on scientific poultry farming at Purum Chumbang village in Chandel district on Monday.
The training programme was organised as part of the series of training programmes for agriculture and allied farmers on scientific poultry farming cum distribution of chicks to be conducted across the state.
CAU livestock assistant Dr N Keinatombi presented demonstration on different methods of scientific poultry farming as subject expert while highlighting the potential of economic improvement as poultry entrepreneurs.
Purum Chumbang village chief MK Smell expressed appreciation to CAU and Humanism Foundation for bringing the training programme to the village.
He also expressed hope that the training will help the villagers in taking up poultry farming as a profession and generate income.
Altogether 30 farmers from the village participated in the training programme.
CAU directorate of extension education and Humanism also distributed chicks to the farmers.
In the first phase of the programme, trainings have been conducted at Laich-ing Kangshang village in Tengnoupal district and Kalikalok village in Kakching district.
So far, over 1000 chicks have been distributed to around 100 farmers.
