Imphal, February 14 2020:
Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, today, rejected the bail applications filed by three foreign Nationals who allegedly tried to sneak away to other countries through Manipur, and remanded them into judicial custody till February 28 .
The three foreigners identified as Kamalamohon Nagarajah (44) s/o Nagarajah of Soumi Finland Kustanmaki Espo, Mohamed Faiz (43) s/o Mohideen Pitchai of 102 Siddhartha road, Colombo-5, and Alan Sanjit Rajasundaram (32) s/o Santhakumar Rajasundaram of Stadt Ludwigsburg Burgerdieste, Germany, were produced before the Court following the completion of 5 days in custody of City PS, along with a prayer for remanding them to judicial custody for proper investigation of the case.
The IO, through the APP, explained that the three foreign Nationals were arrested due to suspicion while conducting a routine check of a lodging hotel located in Imphal City.
The IO stated that upon verification, an Aadhaar card issued in the name of one Fayas Sulaiman Sheikh from Mumbai, was recovered from their possession, along with three tourist visa approval letters of the Republic of Union of Myanmar as well as three foreign passports (issued by European Union, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and European Union Bundes-republik Deutschland) .
On preliminary interrogation, the detained individuals revealed that in May last year, they were arrested at IGI Airport, New Delhi and Mumbai Airport, for attempting to facilitate the travel of 3 Sri Lankan Nationals to European countries by exchanging boarding cards and added that the case is still pending at Mumbai and as such, they have no permit to leave the country.
Pointing out that the documents in their possession are suspected to be foreign ones and that the three individuals were planning to leave the country through Myanmar, the IO prayed for remanding them to judicial custody for proper investigation of the case.
On the other hand, the counsel of the three individuals filed bail applications to secure their release.
After going through the submission from both sides, the Court rejected the bail applications and instead remanded the three foreign Nationals into judicial custody till February 28 .
