Free medical camp held at Thanga

As a part of "Anemia Free Manipur Campaign" started by the Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur at Thanga village and Karang Island, H Balkrisna Singh, Director (IPR), Manipur in association with the members of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur, BVP, Thanga Branch and M/s Eastern Motors, Chingmeirong organised a one day free medical camp for screening and detection of anemia among mother and children of Thanga Part-I at Chairenlakpa Community Hall, Thanga Chingkha Leikai, yesterday.
A team of doctors and medical staff of the State Health Department, RIMS Hospital and volunteers of Good Karma Foundation conducted the free medical camp, where about 200 women and children took part.
During the camp, medical kits, dietary supplements and medicines were also distributed free of cost.
Speaking on the occasion, H Balkrisna Singh, Director (IPR), Manipur emphasised on the role of civil society organisations in extending humanitarian aid to remote areas of the State.
He encouraged the people of Thanga, mostly womenfolk for their participation and appealed to inculcate a healthy food habit by intake of a balanced diet not only for themselves but also for their children.
He also appreciated the local media for spreading awareness to the general public.
Oinam Maipakchao Singh, president of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Thanga Branch appreciated the joint efforts to achieve "Anemia Free Thanga" and expressed strong desire to organise similar medical camps at other places of Thanga for the benefit of womenfolk of Thanga.
Dr Neeta Sinam, Medical Officer of Sekmai CHC, Dr Priscilla Thounaojam, Dr Harina Sinam, Laishram Guna Singh, Joint Secretary, Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur, CEO of M/S Eastern Motors, Chingmeirong, Heikrujam Joybi, consultant physiotherapist of RIMS Hospital and community leaders attended the free medical camp.
