Imphal, February 14 2020:
The sharp hike in LPG or cooking gas price by the BJP Government is only a burden for the people, especially the women homemaker of the State, conveyed All Manipur Nupi Marup president M Sakhi in a statement today.
She recalled that the rate of LPG price in November and December last year were Rs 796.25 and Rs 815.90 respectively while the rate from January to February increased to Rs 836.50.And now the price has shot up to Rs 986.40, she asserted while adding that the LPG cylinder price continues to rise under the BJP Government.
Maintaining that 99 percent of the households in Manipur is managed by women, Sakhi added that the number of males, who actually stay at home to cook, is close to zero.
As such, the sharp increase of LPG price is a huge inconvenience for the women homemaker.
Saying that the Finance Minister, Gol does not understand the sentiments of women even though the Minister herself is a woman, Sakhi alleged that the recent budget does not benefit the poor people as it was meant only for the advantage of the rich corporate sectors.
