Hills-valley divide has been bridged, says Works Minister

Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh has stated that celebration of the Chithe�Nga (Seed Sowing) Festival will reaffirm the relationship between the hills and valley.
He was speaking at the valedictory day of the three-day-long Chithe-Nga (Seed sowing festival, 2020) at Onaeme Village under Purul subdivision in Senapati District yesterday.
The Chithe-Nga is a seed sowing festival of the Onaeme (Oinam Hill) Village celebrated every year and observed for three days.
The Minister maintained that earlier there was a trust deficit between the hills and the valley due to communication gap, poor connectivity etc.
But, under the new Government, the gap between the people has been bridged and the Government has succeeded in restoring trust and peace among the people.
Biswajit asserted that the Government has launched various flagship programmes and schemes and locals of Oinam Village should avail these schemes.
Village headmen and other concerned need to sensitise the masses about the various flagship programmes, he added.
While assuring that repairing of road connectivity will be completed at the earliest, he further observed that people should clear electricity bills on time.
He also stated that AV Cable will be used to control loss of power and prevent electrocution due to sagging power lines.
Speaking as a guest of honour, Chairman, MANIDCO and MANITRON Dr Radheshyam Yumnam thanked the villagers for the warm welcome.
He further appreciated the people for safeguarding and preserving their traditions and cultures.
PHE Minister Losii Dikho said that under PM Modi, the Central Government has set a target to provide clean drinking water to all households by 2024, however, the State Government is targeting to provide clean drinking water in the State by 2022 .
Highlights of the last day of the festival include cultural items, folk dances and demonstration of Onaeme Earthen Pottery making among others.
MLA N Indrajit Singh also attended the function as a Guests of Honour.
