Gold seized, 3 two-wheelers recovered

Imphal, September 19 2022:
A total of 1242 gms of gold in paste form, three gold biscuits and 3 two-wheelers suspected to have been stolen have been seized/recovered in three separate incidents.
Acting on a specific tip off, a team of Kakching commandos carried out a search operation at the residence of one Md Azad Khan (25) s/o Md Amjad Ali of Sora Awang Leikai at around 9 pm yesterday.
In the course of the search operation, 3 two-wheelers suspected to have been stolen were recovered.
The recovered motorcycles included one Royal Enfield Classic 350 (red), one Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (black) and one KTM Duke (black) .
As the owner of the house could not provide proper documents of the vehicles, all the motorcycles were seized and he was arrested.

Following the disclosure of Md Azad Khan that one Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (black) was brought by one Md Anish Khan (22) s/o Md Anwar Khan of Moreh Ward No 5, presently staying at Sora Chingya Leikai, the commando team rushed to Sora Chingya Leikai and arrested Md Anish Khan at around 10.30 pm yesterday.
He admitted that the motorcycle was handed over to him by one Mr Boboy of Lilong to sell to a buyer at Moreh/Myanmar.
Md Azad Khan and Md Anish Khan have been handed over to Kakching police station along with the recovered motorcycles.
On the other hand, a team of Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal detained one Shakir Ahmed (26) s/o Abdul Hakim of Lilong Atoukhong at Imphal Airport on September 15 .
Shakir Ahmed was thoroughly checked and eventually four oval shaped packets of gold in paste form weighing 1242 gms were recovered from his rectum.
As such, Shakir Ahmed was arrested under Section 104 of Customs Act, 1962, informed a press release by Deputy Commissioner, Anti-Smuggling Unit Keerthishri S .
The value of the seized gold was estimated at Rs 54,97,332 .
In another case, a team of Customs officers, acting on specific information, intercepted one van (Maruti Eco) at Khongjom at around 2 pm of September 11 and the vehicle was brought to Customs Office, Imphal along with the driver and one passenger.
At the Customs office, the lady passenger identified as Mayengbam Jinat Devi w/o Mayengbam Selung Singh of Lilong Arapti Maning Leikai confessed and took out three gold biscuits from her inner wear.
The value of the seized gold biscuits was estimated at Rs 25,39,800 .
