Devolve power to local bodies: Shiv Sena

Shiv Sena, Manipur president N Tombi has said that MLAs should not grasp power of those elected in local body elections held at the grassroots level.
Addressing media persons at the party's Babupara office, here, on Monday, N Tombi said that Shiv Sena is expecting to open electoral account in the upcoming local body elections and the party will give special emphasis on rooting out corruption if it happens to be part of the administration.
He said that elected members of the Zilla Parishad, Nagar Panchayat and municipal councils must be given full power and MLAs should work to ensure devolution of power the members elected to the local bodies.
He further said that development at the grassroots level could be accelerated when elected members of local bodies work without any disturbance from MLAs.
N Tombi further said that he will attend Shiv Sena national executive meet in New Delhi during which discussion will figure issues related to the three-tier elections.
He also informed that Shiv Sena has returned to natural alliance with BJP though the party had formed government in Maharashtra with Congress for two years.
He maintained that Shiv Sena and RSS have been working together and helping each other for the last 27 years.
According to N Tombi, Shiv Sena state unit is planning to announce its support to the BJP-led government in the state and an official announcement in this regard would be made after getting approval from central leaders and this matter could be discussed at the national executive meet as well.
