Imphal, September 19 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president Hareshwar Goswami has demanded withdrawal chief minister N Biren Singh's remark that the Congress tried to break apart India but BJP attempts to bring unity.
While reacting to CM Biren's remark, who said that it was shameful for some parties that schemed to break up India calling for unity of the country and no one will believe Congress party's Indian unification slogan whereas BJP is working to bring unity, Hareswar Goswami said that every section of the society understands the role that Congress party played in India's freedom movement.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is currently on a mission to unify India but some political parties including BJP are projecting Rahul's mission as an attempt to divide the country, which indeed is irrational and malicious, Hareshwar said.
With regard CM Biren's observation that Manipur could be developed state had the BJP came to power a little bit earlier, the MPCC vice president said that BJP has been helming the affair for the last years in Manipur and it would be appropriate had the CM made the statement with Bharatiya Jana Sangh or RSS background.
Regarding the blame on Congress party for Article 370 and peace talk between Government of India and the NSCN-IM, Hareshwar Goswami said that BJP founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee did not oppose Article 370 despite being in Nehru's cabinet but BJP is now blaming Congress party for Article 370, which gave special provision for Jammu and Kashmir.
BJP talks of divisive provisions under Article 370 and scrapped the same from Jammu and Kashmir on one side but the party now talks about incorporating Naga constitution in the Indian Constitution on another side, he pointed out, adding that Congress party has nothing to do if Naga flag and constitution do not affect Manipur but will oppose tooth and nail if it pose threat to emotional and territorial integrity of Manipur, he affirmed.
While reminding about the main objective of the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, the MPCC president said that the foot march being led by Rahul Gandhi is to save India from BJP's false promises and it was very unfortunate that CM Biren made the remark without understanding history and facts about the present situation in the country and the state.
He said that majority of BJP's founding leaders like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Deen Dayal Upadhaya and Kesab Balaram did not join India's freedom movement but they are the group who tried to divide India.
