Mother's Day celebrated

Like in other parts of the world Mother's Day has been celebrated in the State today with event hosts honouring mothers and highlighting role of mothers in shaping the society.
At the celebration event held at Manipur Baptist Convention centre Church, Chingmeirong, 76-year old Phoebe Shimray from Marou village in Ukhrul district presently residing at Nagaram was conferred with the Mother of the year title.
The award presented by Pastor L Simon Raomei was in recognition of Phoebe's exemplary upbringing of her children despite several constraints.
She had also served the South Tangkhul Naga Baptist Church Association as its first women secretary.
Mass prayer, rendition of hymns by children artistes and presentation of gifts to the mothers were the other highlight of the celebration.
At Manipur Press Club the celebration was organised by Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak with IPSA advisor H Ibotombi Khuman, CLK president Th Tampakleima Chanu and Kanglamei president Y Leirik Leima gracing the event as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
