DESAM distributes prizes

Prizes for the 1st State Level GK Competition, organised by Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), were distributed at Modern College today.
In Category-A (Class-I&II), Florica Sapam of Royal Academy of Advanced Learning, Khundongbam Usha of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School and Sinam Orishima of MS Global Academy secured first, second and third positions respectively.
In Category-B (Class-III to V), Md Azimmuddin Shah of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, Lanchenba Thokchom of St Joesph School and Md Abdul Mukin of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School got first, second and third prizes respectively.
In Category-C (Class-VI to VIII), Shah Minaz of Tiny Tots Unique School secured first position, Heisnam Sanju of Imphal Public Higher Secondary School and Khundrakpam Robinson of New Public Higher Secondary School jointly got second position and Md Talat Aziz Khan of Wisdom Foundation and Mayanglambam Khelemba of MI Academy jointly won third position.
The prizes consist of book, certificate and cash.
Board of Secondary Education Manipur Chairman P Dhanakumar while speaking at the function expressed concern over degradation of standard of education in Manipur.
Saying that the number of Manipuri students, who crack competitive examinations, is decreasing year after year, Dhanakumar said that it is high time to concentrate more on bringing quality education.
He opined that producing students, who understand social responsibility and respect the history and culture of Manipur, is a must.
Maintaining that there is need to identify the potential and talent of children, Dhanakumar said that forcing children to pursue the career chosen by parents may suppress the inborn talents of children.
DESAM President M Angamba and Scholar Publishing House, Guwahati Regional Manager A Raju were the president and guest of honour of the function respectively.
