Imphal, May 11 2014 :
Regarding the ongoing process for recruitment of regular principals of government colleges under Higher Education Department, the State Government will be taking up appropriate action as per the final decision of the High Court of Manipur as it is not possible for the government or MPSC to proceed with the process till such final decision of the court is decided on the matter as per orders of the Supreme Court.
According to a statement issued by Secretariat: Higher Education, the MPSC published a list of 49 screened candidates on February 4 last giving the terms and conditions including eligibility under minimum API Score screening to be done by Department of Higher Education following a Screening Committee duly constituted by the government conducted the API score screening on February 11 and proceedings thereof was submitted to MPSC on February 12 to ensure holding of interview to be started from February 17 as fixed by MPSC.
However, the said interview could not be held since one Dr RK Yaiskul Singh and others filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court on February 12 challenging the judgment of High Court of Manipur.
Later, the Supreme Court by a interim order stayed the process of interview which was scheduled on the basis of MPSC advertisement and after taking final hearing on April 22, the Supreme Court had referred back the case to High Court of Manipur for deciding the Writ Petition afresh and to expeditiously dispose off the case on merit preferably within two months.
Final decision of the case before the High Court of Manipur is awaited and the matter is sub-judice till date, the statement added.
