'Ideal Mothers' honoured on Mothers' Day

Imphal/Chandel, May 11 2014 :
Six women were honoured as "Ideal Mothers" during the celebration of Mothers' Day organized by Chanura Lamjinglen Kangleipak (CLK) at Manipur Press Club here today.
The six mothers honoured by CLK were Heisnam Sanatombi, Ningthoujam Yaima, Secretary General of Nupi Samaj Th Ramani, President of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Lup L Memchoubi, President of KANGLAMEI Leirik Leima and President of MIKHOL Ak Janaki.
Heisnam Sanatombi and Ningthoujam Yaima are from Thanga, a village near Loktak Lake in Bishnupur district.
Both of them were honoured in recognition of their endless sacrifice and hard work towards bringing up their children.
Sanatombi became a widow at an early age of 37 years, but she worked against all odds to raise her four children by selling fish.
Now, all her children have secured good jobs.
Her eldest son is an MCS officer (Sub-Divisional Officer), while her other three children are MPS officer (Additional SP), Major in Indian Army and a college lecturer.

Ningthoujam Yaima had also worked hard to support her children.
She used to catch fish from Loktak Lake and sell in the market.
Her two children have become a doctor and a junior scientist.
The Mothers' Day celebration was attended by the leaders of various civil society organizations.
The speakers at the celebration stressed on the role of women in the society and highlighted the issues concerning increasing crime and violence against women in the State.
As part of worldwide celebration, Mother's Day was also celebrated at Central Methodist Church of Molnoi Area in Chandel District today under the theme "The Virtuous Woman" today.
Rev..SVaiphei, Church Pastor, who was the main speaker of the celebration, elaborated on the topic "The qualities of a good Mother and her role and responsibilities" with special reference from the scripture of Proverb chapter 31 of the Bible.
The Church Choir presented their melodies song in honour of all Mothers and enthralled the huge congregation in the morning session.
And during the noon session, women members participated in group wise Song Competition, Bible Recitation, Debating competition and extempore Speech competition conducted under the supervision of work committee of Women Society for Christian Service (WSCS) .
It may be noted here that the modern day celebration of Mother's day was started by one Anna Marie Jarvis of Philadelphia in remembrance of her mother.
In 1908, the celebration of Mother's day was officially held at St.
Andrews Methodist Episcopel Church of Grafton, West Virginia in USA.
Since then Mother's day has been celebrated all over the world by not only Christian religious groups in honour and remembrance of mothers and their contribution in the family, society and the nation at large.
