Science Meet begins at DMC campus

A five-day Science Meet organised by Manipur Science and technology Council (Mastec) commenced from today at the DM College campus of Manipur Science Aquarium with Additional secretary (Sc & Tech) Kh Raghumani Singh, Mastec director Th Surendranath Singh and DMC Commerce Principal Ng Brajakumar Singh gracing the inauguration programme as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Highlighting that till 1970 science subject was limited to theoretical studies upto class X standard with practical classes commencing from standard XI and XII, Kh Raghumani in his address as the chief guest said comprehensive knowledge on science subject has become mandatory in the development of human resource.
While advancement in information technology has brought about tremendous change in diverse fields throughout the world science continues to expand scope for exploring new horizons, said the bureaucrat while applauding the student participants for presenting their respective models at the meet.
He also announced that this year's Dr Ibeyaima Innovation Award, comprising of Rs 20,000 and citation, would be presented to M Manihar Sharma of Nongmeibung Pung Makhong.
Besides exhibition on science models, the five day event will also include book exhibition, science short play competition, science film shows, puppet shows, etc.
