Imphal, May 11 2014 :
All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has urged the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) to review its order regarding registration of students studying in Class VIII to X .
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, AMRPSWA secretary L Joy Khuman requested BOSEM to review the resolution taken in the board meeting held on April 11 regarding fixing of last date and late fine for registration of Class VIII and IX .
Saying that registration is being done on three different occasions by a student between Class VIII to X, L Joy said that no such rule is there in other States.
He added that such a hasty decision of the Board has given lots of inconvenience to the future pillars of the society.
Many students residing at far-flung areas had to bear late fine as the duration given for registration was too short, he said and added that it was not proper to fix last of registration on April 17, on which Lok Sabha election was held in the State.
He also expressed concern that Rs 50 was charged as late fine although the Government had announced free education under RTE up to Class VIII.
He also demanded the Board not to charge late fine, ensure reaching of Board's orders to schools in time and register students once in Class IX as in other States.
