Imphal, May 11 2014 :
In view of the positive response and the perceptible improvement in the quality of presentation of folk dances in KUT 2013, the State Level Kut Committee has decided to continue with the competition mode in the traditional tribal dance event.
However, the dances should have high entertainment value and should be creative, innovative and should by themselves be crowd pullers.
But this should be done without undermining the core essence and originality of the particular tribal dance theme.
According to the State Level KUT Committee, prizes will be awarded on the basis of criteria such as creativity and innovation.
Marks will be given for creativity and innovation, which should be within the bounds of the core essence of the particular tribal dance theme.
For Choreography, marks will be given for entertainment value while for the dance marks will be given on the crowd pulling ability.
This criterion will be judged on the basis of the reaction of the audience.
Moreover, marks will be awarded for creative adaptation of tribal cloth designs and negative marks will be given for turning out in non-tribal attire like jeans, watches, spectacles, etc.
Keeping the allotted time for dance presentation is also important.
The dance presentation should be concise and should not drag on.
Time for each dance has not been decided as yet as this will depend on the number of participants.
But, it may be within 10 to 15 minutes.
Each dance troupe will represent a particular tribe and participate on behalf of the tribe and Rs.1,00,000; Rs.75,000 and Rs.50,000 will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders respectively.
This notice has been given early so as to allow ample time for participants to practice, rehearse and come up with award winning presentations, the KUT committee added.
