Rain inundates parts of Imphal city

Imphal, May 11 2014 :
Owing to incessant heavy rainfall since the last few days, several parts in Imphal city including roads and residential premises have been inundated.
However, water level of Imphal, Iril, Kongba and Nambul River is still running low.
Entrance gate of Temporary Market has been completely submerged under water thereby causing inconvenience to buyers.
Water clogging was also seen in parts of Kwakeithel Konjeng Hajari Leikai, Thouda Bhabok Leikai, Hodam Leirak, Irom Pukhri Mapal, Nganappi Thong areas where many residential premises have been affected.
Residents of Kakwa Asem Leikai in Langthabal A/C have been facing a hard times in moving out from their houses as almost of the area has been submerged under water.
According to Meteorological Office at Tulihal Airport, the rate of rainfall on May 8, 9 and 10 were recorded at 8.9 MM, 7 MM and 22.6 MM respectively and 68.5 MM on May 11 .
The weather condition in the next two-three days is also expected to be same.
Even though considerable amount of rainfall has been received, Okram Chuthek Water Supply Scheme, Thongju A/C is yet to supply potable water to people residing within its jurisdiction and people have been complaining about mere attendance of staffs in the water plant.
