SVEEP campaign held at Lilong, P Pantha

A one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organised at Lilong Bazar, Thoubal District by Regional Outreach Bureau Imphal, ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Sunday.
According to programme in-charge Thokchom Anthony, ROB Imphal head Dr Aribam Ibomcha Sharma urged everyone to practice ethical voting and to exercise the universal suffrage on informed choice.
He also called upon the gathering to go through the Know Your Candidate (KYC) App or the website of the ECI.
Inclusive and accessible election, use of cVigil App, Electronic Voting Machine(EVM), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (WPAT), Toll free number 1950 and COVTD Appropriate Behaviour while going out to vote were discussed with the electorates who are going to vote during the 2nd phase of Manipur Assembly Election, 2022.An on-the-spot quiz contest on Election Quotient was also held and prizes along with certificates were distributed.
M/s People's Arts and Dramatic Association (PADA), Top Khongnangkhong, a Private Regis tered Troupe (PRT) of ROB, Imphal, played a drama on SVEEP namely "Election gi Sambal".
The event was presided over by Jama Masjid Lilong president Md Nizamuddin.
Meanwhile, FOB Chandel Matthew SK Bengam informed that SVEEP campaign was held at P Pantha 41/1 polling station by Field Outreach Bureau (FOB) Chandel in coordination with SVEEP Chandel district administration.
The P Pantha polling station consists of Purum Pantha, Keithelmanbi and Chothe Khunou villages in Chandel Block of Chandel district.
The release said that VLO Sk Abising, chief of P Pantha Jevan Sankhil, chief of Keithelmanbi Th Rengting, pastor Sem Sankhil and SVEEP Chandel nodal officer Dearson Tontang attended the event as chief guest, guest of honour, functional president and resource person respectively.
Speaking at the event, Abising stressed the need to cast vote in choosing the right candidate who will be people's representatives for coming five years while resource person Dearson highlighted the importance of SVEEP and also urged the gathering to use their rights responsibly.
He also appealed to the people to follow Covid SOPs during elections by wearing masks, gloves, sanitising hands and maintain social distancing while standing in queue.
He also explained in detail the use of EVM-VVPATs, documents to Validate for voting and facilities provided for PWD and senior citizens.
As part of the function, publicity materials on SVEEP and caps were distributed and a quiz competition was held followed by distribution of prizes to the winners, added the release.
