Disabled bodies demand Chief Minister to formulate policy

Disabled associations today demanded the Manipur Chief Minister to formulate a policy to bring welfare for all persons with disabilities of the state.
In a memorandum to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, the associations raised him 10 demands to be fulfilled, said general secretary of Disabled Development Association, Manipur, Md Yunus Khan.
Implementing PWD Act, 1995, setting up of a Youth Hostel, providing free medical treatment and free education up to higher level and introducing a special health insurance scheme are some of the major demands of the associations.
Punishing persons involved in crime against women and children and taking special steps to attach access ramp for disabled at all Government and private establishments are also among the 10 demands mentioned in the memorandum to the Chief Minister.
