Most Teachers absent at their place of posting: KSO Chandel

Most of the teachers were found absent in their place of posting and do not attend schools in Chandel District during the current academic session.
This was disclosed to the media by Kuki Students' Organization (KSO) Chandel District in a press meet organised after a Joint Meeting of Village Chiefs, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Chandel District and 7 Blocks of Kuki Students' Organisation Chandel District which was held at H.Kotlenphai Village in Chandel District today.
While briefing the media persons, Doumang Haokip, President of KSO Chandel District said that as per the reports of surprise visit conducted by the KSO Blocks during the past few months, most of the teachers in Chandel District were found absent and not dispensing their duties at their respective place of posting.
The student body would take up stringent action against any teachers who were not dispensing their duties from the next academic session, said the student leader.
While appealing the concerned authority to inspect schools located in the District regularly to ensure smooth functioning, the Students' leaders also appealed to the government to install Biometric Machines at every school for ensuring regular attendance of teachers from next academic session.
The concerned authority should distribute School Uniforms and Text Books for the students as well as release all the funds for school maintenance to the accounts of School Managing Committee on or before the commencement of the school session, he added.
Moreover, the President also said that the concern authority should deliver Rice of Mid Day Meal at the door step of every school to ensure that the rice were not misappropriate and the students enjoy their meal during school hours.
Lunminlal Haokip, Secretary, Health and Environment, KSO Chandel who also attended the press meet said that the assurance given by the local MLA and Chief Medical Officer of Chandel while upgrading the Tengnoupal Primary Health Centre into 24x7 to install Ultra sound machine at the Centre is yet to be materialised till date.
Moreover the Ambulance given to the Health Centre was lying unattended as it could not be used, even in the case of any emergency, due to mechanical problem and absence of driver, he added.
Therefore, the student leader appealed to the local MLA and CMO to materialize the assurance and install the Ultra Sound Machine at the Primary Health Centre at the earliest and also provide an Ambulance which could be used in emergency cases.
