Imphal, December 17 2014:
Prof..KYugindro of MU has created history by becoming the first Indian to have been invited for giving two oral presentations at the 103rd Meeting of the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO) held at Woburn Hilton, Massachusetts, USA during November 6-8, 2014 .
Prof.Yugindro has reported in the meeting discovery of a low state of Sirius, the Brightest star in which the star shows up very high amplitude pulsation in the visual band (V) of electromagnetic spectrum.
American Association of Variable Star Observers is the top world body of ameteur astronomers.
It may be noted that Prof.Yugindro's team also discovered an extremely luminous object ULX (X-3) whose report were published in the journal " Astronomy and Space Science" (Sept 6, 2014) and NatureIndia (Oct 20, 2014) .
Prof.Yugindro's team of Manipur University is the lone team not only from India but also the whole Asian continent participating in the International Orion Project for production of high precision photometric and spectroscopic data of 5 bright variable stars of the constellation of Orion.
International Orion Project is headquartered at Phoenix, Arizona, USA and its website is http://www.hposoft.com/Orion/Orion.html.
A research paper regarding astronomical activities at MU is published in the Journal "International Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics" (IJAA) published from California, USA in its December 2014 issue.
The website of IJAA is www.scirp.org/journal/ijaa/ .
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has given a Project to Prof.Yugindro to do world class observation of a category of variable stars called "SU UMa" stars.
