Statues of Akaba, R Suisa to be unveiled on Jan 3

Twin statues of love peace and fraternity which has been erected in memory of late leader Chingsubam Akaba and R Suisa will be unveiled on January 3 next year at Wakha Leima hill in Imphal east district.
The statues of Chingsubam Akaba and R Suisa will be inaugurated in connection with the 8th Death Anniversary of late Chingsubam Akaba, who was killed by unidentified persons on the night of January 1 in 2007. A statement issued today said MEELAL and Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup will jointly organize the commemoration function which will also be marked by presentation of 'Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Memorial Award' by MEELAL.
Golmei Makuchung Kabui and Sadokpam Thoungamba Mangang will be given the Awards for their contributions towards language, script, culture, faith and communal harmony in Manipur.
The Awards carry a cash amount of Rs.10,000 along with a memento and certificate each.
Manipur King Leisemba Sanajaoba will unveil the twin statues, the foundation stone of which was laid by the King on January 3 in 2014.The statues have been constructed by R Suisa Trust and Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup.
The organizers have appealed to people of all communities in Manipur to take part in the commemoration function.
