'Twin Statues of Love' to be unveiled on January 3

Meetei erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) and Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningshing Lup (LUKANIL) will observe the 8th death anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba at Wakha Leima Ching in Imphal East district on January 3 next year.
Twin statues of Chingsubam Akaba and Rungsung Suisa, which signify hill-valley unity and brotherhood, would be unveiled by titular king of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba at the observance, said MEELAL vice-president M Naokhamba while speaking at a press conference.
He said that public leader Akaba was assassinated in the night of January 1, 2007 (the 13th day of Wakching month of Manipuri lunar calendar).
Saying that following the footprints of the public leader would give courage to the people of the current generation, Naokhamba said that MEELAL and LUKANIL have been observing the death anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba every year.
This year's Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningshing Mana (Chingsubam Akaba Memorial Award) would be conferred on Golmei Makuchung Kabui and Sadokpam Thoungamba Mangang at the observance, he added.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a certificate and a memento each.
