Class XII exam results out with 88.68 pass pc

Council of Higher Secondary Education (CoHSEM) has declared the results for the Higher Secondary Examination, 2023 on Monday.
In all, 36,212 appeared in the ex-amination, of which 32,111 passed the examination with a pass per-centage of 88.68.Female candidates topped all three streams.
For the Science stream, Heri-tage Convent School student Ria Thokchom d/o Thokchom Romeo of Heingang Mayai Leikai secured 491 marks and bagged the first position; Comet School student Kelina Chungkham d/o Johnson Chungkham of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai Leirak Achouba secured 488 marks and bagged the second position; while Xtra Edge School student Lincoln Leisem Pot-sangbam s/o Potsangbam Geheswar of Heirangoithong Bazar Aheibam Leirak secured 481 marks to secure the third position.
For Arts stream, TG Higher Secondary School student Pushpa Naorem d/o N Bhumeshor of Naorem Leikai Awang bagged the first posi-tion with 475 marks; Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School student Chungkham Damayenti Devi d/o Ch Kotishor of Sagol-band Tera Amudon Akham Leikai bagged the second position with 470 marks; and TG Higher Secondary School student Tulsipriya Athokpam d/o Athokpam Jiten of Samurou Awang Leikai bagged the third position with 463 marks.
For commerce stream, TG Higher Second-ary School student Rajbrinda Naorem d/o N Henary Singh of Tentha Khongbal got the first position with 445 marks; SDJM Higher Sec-ondary School student Einstein Ningombam s/o N Ranjit of Thoubal Okram secured the second position with 430 marks; and Sangai Higher Secondary School student Waribam Debraj s/o Waribam Dhiren of Awang Sek-mai Laipat wrested the third position with 411 marks.
Around 36,717 students were enrolled for this year's Higher Secondary Examination, of which 36,212 appeared for the examination and 32,111 passed, putting the pass percentage at 88.68 percent.
For Science stream, around 24,304 students appeared in the examination and 21,996 passed, putting the pass percent-age at 90.50 percent.
For Arts stream, 11,105 students sat for the exam and 9439 passed at 85 percent pass percentage.
For Commerce stream, 803 students sat for the exam, of which 676 passed with success rate of 84.18 percent.
Among the top 10 position for Arts stream, three positions were secured by students from government schools while among the top five position for Commerce stream, two were bagged by students from government schools.
Two students from government schools also secured positions in the top 20 positions for Science stream.
Announcing the results at CoHSEM's audito-rium in Babupara here on Monday afternoon, education minister Thounaojam Basantakumar attributed the success of students of govern-ment schools among the position holders in Class XII examination to the Joint efforts of CM Biren's School Fagathanshi Mission, officials of the Education Department and teachers.
He continued that the 2/3 month long res-idential coaching before the examination come to fruition with the government schools developing speedily.
Private schools have been performing well as usual.
He then informed that chief secretary Vineet Joshi has been advised to write to all chief secretaries across the country to instruct re-spective institutes to allow Manipuri students to submit application for admission in hard copy or through online mode.
The press meet was attended by Higher and Technical Education commissioner H Gyan Prakash; CoHSEM chairman T Ojit; secretary Ch Biren; controller of examina-tions A Sukumar; and Education (S) director L Nandakumar among others.
