Court orders disposal of seized drugs

Consequent to inability to identify per - son(s) directly involved, the special court of ND & PS, Manipur gave approval to the final report submitted by IO of a drug haul case investigated by Jiribam po-lice under ND & PS Act and also instructed to dispose of drugs seized in connection with the case.
As per the report sub-mitted by prosecution of the case, a team of Jiribam police station signalled a Tata Safari vehicle mov-ing along National High-way-37 on December 12, 2018 at about 4.30pm near Lhangom village to stop for checking but speeded away.
The vehicle was found abandoned near the RCC bridge at Muktakhal with two plastic packets contain-ing 516gm and 480gm pow-der suspected to be drugs inside the vehicle.
When the 10 conducted investigation into the case, it was found that the vehicle bearing registration No UP 32 AF-7861 was already blacklisted by Transport Nagar, RTO Luc know.
While informing that the vehicle is in the custody of the police station, the 10's final report said that owner of the involved vehicle as well as persons carrying the drugs could not be es-tablished or arrested and sought court's approval for impounding the vehicle and disposing the seized drugs.
Consequently, the court approved the final report submitted by 10 on June 18, 2021 and also ordered to dispose of the seized drugs as per the law.
The court also ordered to confiscate the seizedTata Safari vehicle under ND & PS Act.
