URF designated camp searched for bodies of missing cadres

Following allegations of killing of two cadres of United Revolutionary Front (URF) and burial of their bodies inside the URF designated camp located within the complex of 9th Dogra Regiment D-Coy at Loitang Khunou (Spinning Mill) in North Imphal, a search operation was conducted by a team of police today.
It may be recalled here that on March 19, 2014, a complaint was lodged at Sekmai police station by the URF regarding missing of two of its cadres.
The two URF cadres who reportedly went missing on March 18 were identified as Irengbam Bode alias Washington (35), s/o (L) Biren of Awang Khunou, Imphal West district and Pukhrambam Somorjit (35), s/o Lakshman of Waheng Khuman under Nambol police station, Bishnupur district.
Regarding the missing of Bode, his wife, Sunita, who is suspicious that her husband may have ben murdered and buried inside the URF camp had made a complaint to the Sekmai police on April 30 last month.
Following the complaint, Sekmai police conducted the search operation inside the designated camp after due permission obtained from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the State Home Department and the District Magistrate, Imphal West today.
The search operation led by Additional SP (LO) of Imphal East, L.Birbabu and was also joined by SDPO Lamphel, Wungpam Kasar and a team led by Sekmai police Officer In-charge (OC) .
SDC of Sekmai Itocha and a team of State Forensic Science Laboratory Unit also joined the operation along with certain search equipments.
The four hour-long search which began at 10:15 am was not able to recover any dead body of the missing URF cadres inside the designated camp.
Not finding any trace of the corpses inside the camp, the forensic expert team also continued the search by digging the earth outside the wall of the camp located on the northern side.
Four camouflaged trousers believed to belong to the URF cadres were recovered lying in the drain adjacent to the campus wall about 20 metres apart from each other.
In a suspicious manner, holes dug out from earth to enable passage to and fro from beneath the wall of the camp were also found during the search operation.
According to the Additional SP (LO), Birbabu, the case needs further investigation so that the underlying truth can be revealed.
