Imphal, May 06 2014:
Condemning in the strongest term the act of triggering bomb blast at a stone crushing centre at Thoubal Kiyam Siphai, Wahengbam (O) Sana of Thoubal Sabaltongba, one of the three victims, has appealed to all concerned to refrain from such unmindful activities in future.
Sana who is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS said that the grenade attack of May 5 gave a crippling blow to her impoverished family.
Sana sustained injuries on right shoulder, ear and thigh.
Two splinters are still embedded in her thigh and she is unable to move herself without someone's support.
Altogether 24 labourers including 18 women were working at the stone crushing centre when the bomb exploded.
Ningthoujam Kamala (40) w/o N Ingocha of Tangjeng and Laishram Pakpi (45) w/o late L Chourajit too sustained some minor injuries.
Sana's husband Ingobi expired about 15 years back.
After the expiry of her husband, Sana left her husband's house located at Wabagai Hiyanglam and went back to her parental home at Thoubal Sabaltongba together with her two sons.
The eldest is reading in class XII while the younger gave Class X exam this year.
She has been working at the stone crushing centre since the past two years.
The working hour starts at 4 am.
Like on other days, Sana and other labourers had just begun working yesterday morning when the morning calm was shattered by a loud explosion.
Sana asked, "Is it right to turn against humble labourers even if they (assailants) have any grudge towards the proprietor?" All the labourers have been toiling the whole day for the daily wage which is peanuts in order to keep the kitchen fire burning and educate children.
Targeting the hapless working class is highly condemnable, Sana said.
Quoting doctors, Sana said that removal of splinters embedded in her thigh is risky.
"At the same time, I don't want to keep the splinters inside my body for good.
I'm caught in a dilemma", she said.
"If I cannot work because of the injuries, who would look after the educational expenses of my children?", she asked with a forlorn look.
Since the beginning of the current year till May 4, Manipur witnessed 39 numbers of bomb blasts.
