A felicitation function for children who have undergone heart surgery under Rotary's 'Gift of Life' programme was hosted by Governor VK Duggal at Raj Bhavan today.
Speaking at the occasion, Rotarian (Dr) Radhesyam Oinam, Coordinator of Gift of Life, Rotary Club of Imphal said 131 children from Manipur and nearly 300 children from NE India have been operated under the Rotary Heart Project.
He said that 30 children from the State would be operated in New Delhi this year under the Gift of Life programme, a humanitarian programme to save the lives of underprivileged children suffering from congenital heart diseases.
Both the Rotary Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal have been providing humanitarian and community service since their inception in 1974 and 2010 .
A total of 2700 patients were examined and provided medicines free of cost at a medical camp organised by the Rotary Club of Imphal on Jan 26 this year at Kalay town in Myanmar.
Besides, one ultrasound machine with printer was also donated to the Kalay civil hospital.
The felicitation programme was attended among others by Chief Minister O Ibobi, Dy CM Gaikhangam, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing and several prominent Rotarians.
