Imphal, February 27 2022:
In one of the rarest and shocking incidents in the political history of the country, INC candidate in Wangoi assembly constituency ex-MLA Salam Joy has announced his decision to support his rival BJP candidate Oinam Lukhoi, just a day before polling, on Sunday.
Consequently, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee working president T Mangibabu has issued an order expelling Salam Joy from the primary membership of the party.
The shocking report went viral on social media on Sunday afternoon in the form of a video in which Salam Joy was seen declaring his decision.
Both Salam Joy and Oinam Lukhoi were seen standing together in the viral video.
As soon as the video went viral, MPCC issued the order for his expulsion as a disciplinary action against the ex-MLA's anti-party activities.
In the video, Salam Joy wished BJP candidate Oinam Lukhoi a grand victory with a margin of over 5000 votes.
He also asked Lukhoi for working together in taking up development works in the constituency after winning the election.
He also called upon his supporters to support the BJP candidate.
Welcoming his decision, Lukhoi said that by getting support of the INC candidate, he is more confident that he will win the election.
He will remain grateful to the ex-MLA for his decision taken just before the polling day and assured of joining hands in bringing development in the constituency.
He also said that BJP will form the next government and urged the public to support him in the election.
Both the candidates appealed to the people of the constituency to contribute their mite in making the election free and fair.
