Ukhrul bids tearful adieu to Peter

Ukhrul, December 23, 2011:
The mortal remains of Chiphang Peter Ngahanyui, Additional Director General of police (ADGP), was laid to rest at Ukhrul Catholic Church Cemetery with thousands of
people including friends and family members bidding a tearful adieu at his residence on Friday.
The last rite of C Peter, who passed away on Wednesday morning at
Imphal, was held at his Awontang's residence Friday afternoon and was attended by hundreds of family members, friends and government functionaries.
Representatives of
various Tangkhul frontal organisations also attended and offered floral tribute to the mortal remains, which was laid in the courtyard of his residence before being
taken to the cemetery for burial amidst a 21 gun salute.
In the funeral service family members and well wishers including C.Worchuiyo Arthur, Edmund Chiphang,
Awontang Chairman, Hunphunwo of Hunphun Hanga, Imphal Hunphun Yar chairman delivered an elegy for the departed soul, who has been a role model for his contemporaries
and younger generation.
Others who paid their last tribute include TNL, TSL, TKS and TMNL.
The official last rite was organised by Police department, Ukhrul.
The
religious rite for the departed soul was presided by Rev.Dr.Fr.Linus from Parish Priest of Mary Help of Christian Church, Ukhrul.
Arch Bishop of Imphal also
attended the funeral service.
Peter, a 1975 batch IPS held the rank of additional DGP.
