Rich tributes paid to body builder AK Kenar

Imphal, December 23, 2011:
The lifeless body of body builder Akoijam Kenar of the Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) was flown back today by an Indian Airlines flight.

Police personnel, members and officials of All Manipur Body Building and Fitness Association (AMBBA), Manipur Gymnasium Welfare Association, local people and family
members received the body at the Tulihal Airport, Imphal.
His last rites were held in his home village in Thoubal district.
Kenar along with his fellow body builders
was returning home in a train after participating in the 4th Mr Satish Sugar Classic Body Building Championships-2011 organised by the Satish Sugar Limited, Gokak
under the aegis of Indian Body Building and Fitness Association at Belguam, Karnataka.
He expired during his journey back to home inside the train at Jamshedpur area
on December 21 due to an illness.
The lifeless body was taken to the office of AMBBA at Khuman Lampak from the Tulihal Airport and floral tributes were paid to the
body.
Later the body was taken to his home at Thoubal Wangmataba Sorok Makha where officers of the Manipur Police and personnel of 1st MR and 2nd MR paid guard of
honour.
Personnel of Manipur Police, MR and IRB and local people paid floral tributes to the lifeless body of Kenar led by Commandant of 2nd IRB MT Gangte.
Secretary,
Manipur Police Sports Club P Doungel said that the demise of Kenar is a great loss for AMBBA, Manipur Police Department and Manipur Police Sports Club.
Expressing
shock and sorrow, Secretary AMBBA I Bipin said that Kenar had represented Manipur in many national championships and won many medals.
Kenar had won gold medal in Mr
Manipur 2007 and silver medal in Mr Manipur 2011.He had also won the title of Mr Thoubal twice.
He had also won the Overall Title in the Eastern India Body Building
Championships-2009.Capped with the champions' title of Dr Santikumar Body Building Championships and Mr Challenge Cup, Kenar secured 10th position in his last
championship.
Kenar is the only son of late Akoijam Kora and Akoijam ongbi Maipakpi.
He was 36 years old and is survived by his wife and two daughters who are five and
three years old respectively.
He also developed a Gym near his home and groomed many body builders from his locality.
