Governor, CM, others extend X-mas greetings

Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have greeted the people of Manipur, specially the Christian brethren, on the
auspicious and joyous occasion of Christmas, 2011. In his message to the people, Governor Gurbachan Jagat has observed that Lord Jesus was born to build a world
order based on peace, justice and equality of mankind.
In celebrating His birth, which is universally known as Christmas, we, besides paying our obeisance to this
outstanding apostle of peace, should rededicate ourselves to the ideals, principles and values espoused by Him.
His message of love, mercy, forgiveness, benevolence,
compassion and sacrifice, has become increasingly important in the present situation, when the atmosphere is polluted with enmity and hatred between man and man, and
nation and nation.
This is man-made.
There is no enmity between soul and soul.
Let the principles enunciated and message preached by Jesus Christ, guide mankind to
build a prosperous society and a peaceful world, the Governor exhorted.
Conveying his warm greetings and good wishes, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said that Jesus
Christ showed the mankind the path of compassion, tolerance, love, brotherhood and sacrifice.
His message has the power to lift the human race from ignorance, violence
and moral decay to a life of peace, virtue and spiritual fulfillment.
His teachings have a great relevance in today's world and should inspire us all.
The Chief
Minister wished that Christmas may fill our lives with joy, peace, love and prosperity.
Greeting the people on the occasion of Christmas, MP Dr T Meinya hoped that the
message of love and brotherhood preached by Jesus Christ would imbue in the hearts of everyone and usher in peace in the world.
Describing Jesus Christ as the symbol
of love, truth and righteousness, President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Gaikhangam said that celebrating Christmas would spread the message of peace,
development and prosperity to all.
Wishing Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the people of Manipur and the Christians in particular, BJP Manipur Pradesh hoped
that the festive season would bring happiness, joy, forgiveness and peace among the hill and the valley people.
Appealing to all concerned to restrain from calling
economic blockade, bandh or general strike during the festive season, BJP Manipur Pradesh, in a statement issued by its Secretary (Media Affairs) L Bashanta Sharma has
also extended best wishes MPP on its 44th birth anniversary which falls on December 26. GOC of 57 Mountain Division Major General Binoy Poonnen and all ranks of Red
Shield Division have also extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of X-mas.
According to a PIB Defence Wing statement, the Division sincerely
wished that this X-mas sushers in a New Year which is peaceful, prosperous and heralds a new dawn of fresh hope and promise for all.
Naga People's Union, Imphal (NPUL)
has conveyed greetings to all the people of the state and the Christian community in particular on the joyous occasion of Christmas celebration.
In a statement,
Secretary Administration of NPUI Daniel Leivon Lamkang pointed out that every year December 25 is celebrated as Christmas to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the
Prince of Peace.
The Union also wished all the Churches in Imphal city to pray and receive abundantly eternal blessing from the Almighty God during Christmas
celebration.
