Lab-Bikes

Imphal, May 06 2019:
Directorate of Health Services and SHS, National Health Mission Manipur, organised a programme for distribution of Lab-Bike (mobile laboratory in a bike), at IMA Hall, Lamphel today.
A total of 23 Lab-bikes were distributed to various PHCs in Bishnupur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Kamjong, Noney, Senapati and Ukhrul during the event.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr K Rajo Singh said that Lab-bike is a technological marvel and is a laboratory which comes recommended by Health and Family Welfare, GOI.
These bikes have also been put into operation in some places like Gujarat, he said, and explained about the effectiveness of the new technology.
He continued that the said Lab-bike is not meant for cities and towns but for far off remote places which lack proper hospitals, laboratories and clinics.
There are currently 83 PHCs in the State and there are 422 sub centres under the said PHCs, he informed.
Explaining that Lab-bikes offer facilities for haemoglobin, blood sugar, LFT-S Bilirubin, Lipid Profile tests etc, the Director further urged those concerned to utilise the equipment properly.
State Mission Director NHM Manipur Dr S Manikanta Singh and Additional Director (Public Health) Directorate of Health Services, Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang were also present at the event.
It may be mentioned that some Lab-bikes had already been distributed to 17 PHCs on February 27 .
