Ages later, Puya Neinaba to be resumed from June on Saturdays, Sundays

'Puya Neinaba' (Puya Discussion) which was practised ages ago will now resume from June, said titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba today.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the Sagei Peeba Meepham (Peebagi Numit), organised by Utra Shanglen Sana Konung and Yelhou Mee Thoupei at Utra Shanglen, Konung.
Utra Shanglen will be opened on Saturdays and Sundays (from 10,30 am to 4 pm) to hold discussion on Puya, the Royal Chronicle, said the titular king expressing that the discussion will provide awareness about the rich culture and history of the State to its people.
Puya Neinaba was held by the forefathers and continued for ages imparting cultural and moral values to the people, Leishemba said expressing the need of resuming the discussion on Puya to impart cultural, historical and moral values to the present and next generation.
The Puya Neinaba will instill the cultural and traditional norms and values to the people and renew their sense of belongingness and unity.
This will also preserve the aged history, tradition and culture, he added.
Accounting all the yumnaks including those flourishing in other States, the total yumnaks is believed to be around 1,000, he said and pointed out the need to trace the origin of the yumnaks and clans.
The Puya Neinaba will be instrumental in understanding the origins, he added.
Speaking about the significance of the Peeba Meepham, Leishemba urged the organisers to invite the representatives and heads of tribal yumnaks in the next Peeba meet .
Thokchom Ibohal, Kwai Lakpa, Sana Konung and Mutum Churamani, advisor Yelhou Mee Thoupei also attended the event as presidium members.
