Mass cleanliness drive on 'Save Chakpi, Save Chandel' held

With an aim to protect Chakpi river from further deterioration, Wisecrabs Chandel organised a one day community cleanliness drive under the banner 'Save Chakpi, Save Chandel' in the district headquarter on May 4.Considering the pitiful condition of Chakpi and the threat it poses to the well being of the general public, a project entitled 'Save Chakpi, Save Chandel' was launched to spread awareness about the river's declining health, said a statement of Wisecrabs Chandel.
Over 300 volunteers from Japhou, Lambung, River Lane, Hanhringkhu, Chandel Christian and Modi among others cleaned their respective stretch of the river during the camp, it said.
Saying that Wisecrabs provided the neccesary gloves, garbage bins and badges to every volunteer, it added that a local pastry shop, Rara Bakes, co-sponsored the drive by providing the refreshments.
Wisecrabs Administrator thanked all the Chakpi river surrounding villages, Youth club officials and members, Anal Sinnu Ruwl executives and members, ICDS Chandel's coordinators and members, DFO Chandel, Rara Bakes, and all the members of the club who have supported the club.
Wisecrabs Chandel was formed in August, 2018 by a group of young, dynamic and like-minded individuals of the district to contribute their knowledge, skills, and experiences for the upliftment of the society.
