Education Minister apprised of shortage of teaching staff in CCpur College

Churachandpur Government College today submitted a memorandum to Education Minister M.Okendro, through the Chairman of Hill Areas Committee, Dr.Chaltonlien Amo on his august visit to the district.
Urging the Minister to manage the acute shortage of teachers, the memorandum pointed out that in the Chemistry Department of the college, there is only one teacher, when the actual minimum requirement as per UGC norm is 6 or 7 teachers.
It added that the Sociology Department has only 2 teachers now.
Pointing out the shortage of existing number of teachers, the memorandum apprised the Minister that the Botany department has 3 teachers including one part timer, the Anthropology department has 2 teachers including one part timer, Economics department has 3 teachers including one part timer, and the Geography department has 3 teachers as of now.
Principal of Churachandpur Govt.Collage Vanlallawm said, 'the new session (2014-2015) will commence on July 2, and if no immediate arrangement is made before that, the student community, especially of the science stream students will face inexplicable hardships and their reactions in this connection will be beyond our imagination' .
In the memorandum, the college principal further said Churachandpur College is a premiere college in the hill areas of Manipur where students from backward tribal community can study both Arts and Science in degree level with honours.
He further said, many parents of the district do not like to send their wards to study BA/B Sc outside anymore, as Churachandpur Govt.College has made enormous strides to bring quality education in the district at this crucial juncture.
