Imphal, June 12 2014:
Demanding review of the appointment order of RIMS Nursing Superintendent, nurses of the medical institute have launched cease work strike from today.
A meeting was held between RIMS authority and nursing officials this morning.
During the meeting, RIMS authority stated emphatically that they would never yield to the nurses' demand.
They maintained that there was nothing wrong in the appointment (of the Nursing Superintendent), one nursing official told The Sangai Express.
RIMS Nurses' Association secretary Th Mina said that they would carry on the cease work strike until their demand is fulfilled.
Clarifying that the ongoing strike does not encompass nurses appointed on contract basis, Mina informed that the total number of nurses presently on cease work strike is around 487 .
As the cease work would seriously affect normal functions of the medical institute, RIMS nursing officials have initiated certain measures to ensure nurses appointed on contract basis discharge their duties diligently.
