Memorandum submitted to Education Minister

Churachandpur Government College submitted a memorandum to Education Minister M Okendro through Hill Areas Committee Chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo during latter's visit to Churachandpur.
Informing about the acute shortage of teachers, the memorandum said that there is only one teacher in the Chemistry Department and two teachers in Sociology Department though the permitted number of teachers according to UGC guidelines is six to seven teachers.
Maintaining that there is shortage of teachers in Botany Department as well, the memorandum said that the Department has three teachers including one part-time teacher.
In Anthropology Department, the college has only two teachers including one part timer, while Economics Department also has only three teachers including one part time teacher.
Geography Department has three teachers.
Saying that the new session of the college would start from July 2, the memorandum said that students would face lots of inconvenience if required teachers are not sent in time.
The memorandum said that Churachandpur College is a premiere college in the hill areas of Manipur where students of backward tribal can study both Arts and Science in a degree level with honours.
He further said that many parents of the district do not want to send their wards to study BA/BSc outside the State anymore, as Churachandpur Government College has made enormous strides to bring quality education.
