Imphal, June 12 2014:
Sensitizing the people on the rampant influx of non-locals in the State and need for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system to tackle the menace, an ILP Demand Poster Campaign was launched by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) at Nongmeibung Nambam Chuthek here on Wednesday.
Speaking to media persons on the launch, H Ibotombi Khuman, convener of JCILPS, said that the 6-point poster campaign was launched to exert pressure on the government to implement the ILP system in the State which has become necessary to save the indigenous people from the onslaught of rampant influx of non-locals in the State.
Leaders and representatives of various women, civil society and students' organizations took part in the poster campaign.
Meanwhile, a Bangladeshi national identified as Runung Mahanliya (26), who was found without proper identification document, was reportedly pulled up by volunteers of JCILPS from near Pallel Bazar on June 10 morning.
Later, he was compelled to return to his native hometown by the committee after Pallel and Porompat Police Station refused to hand over him.
