Imphal, October 09 2015 :
Joint Students' Coordinating Committee (JSCC), a body comprising of AMSU, KSA, MSF and SUK on Friday locked the administrative blocks of four schools after the authorities failed to comply with the agreement on exemption of school fees.
The four schools are Heritage Convent of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai; Shishu Nistha Niketan of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi; RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya of Pangei and North Point Higher Secondary School of Sangakpam.
The administrative blocks of these schools were closed during a drive conducted by JSCC representatives.
At a press meet held at MSF head office after the drive, JSCC Convener Jayanta Kumar Khuman said that JSCC, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association and All Manipur School Van Transports' Association had held talks twice and they agreed to charge only 30% of school fees for the month of July and August and 50% of school van fees for the two months.

JSCC had also earlier appealed all to abide by the agreement by October 7 and had warned of closing down school administrative blocks if the school authorities failed to comply.
Despite repeated warnings, some school authorities neglected the appeal and continued charging full fees from the students, said Jayanta Kumar Khuman.
JSCC media coordinator Manjit Sarangthem said that an educational institution is a place of learning and it can not be a business house.
People from all walks of life including students have suffered a lot during the recent inner line permit system movement and charging 30% of school fees was reasonable, he said.
The JSCC exuded confidence that all the school authorities will finally cooperate and follow the agreement, said Manjit Sarangthem.
JSCC also appealed schools which are still charging above 30% of school fees to immediately refund the amount in order to avoid any unwanted incident in future.
Meanwhile, sources said that school authority of Heritage Convent of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai had few days back notified to parents that the school will not charge any fee for the last 2015 academic month.
