Expressing concern over the lack of staff members in Jiribam Sericulture Department, president of All Jiribam Sericulture Farmers' Union (AJSFU) said that poor infrastructural facilities and lack of staff members have not only cripple the department's growth but also the livelihood of the sericulture farmers, reports Jiri News Network.
An emergency meeting was held yesterday at AJSFU office at Gularthon where it discussed various problems faced by the farmers and resolved to urge the authority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
AJSFU demanded that adequate staff members in Sericulture Department be provided in order to generate income which will not only boost the State's economy but also provide the sericulture farmers a means to earn their livelihood.
Stating that monetray demands by some underground groups were reportedly the reason of absenteeism of the staff members, AJSFU urged the involved underground groups to consider the grievances of the sericulture farmers and abstain from demanding ransom to the Department.
