World Heritage Day observed

Manipur observed the "World Heritage Day" 2015 during a function held at Kangla Hall here on Saturday.
The function was organized by Manipur State Archaeology and Department of Art & Culture.
K Radhakumar, Secretary, Art & Culture and Dr K Shushila, Director were the chief guest and the president on the occasion.
Radhakumar released a 30-minute long documentary film on "Kangla" produced by Manipur Film Development Corporation managing director Dr K Sobita and directed by Padmashree Aribam Syam Sharma on the occasion.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao on the sidelines of the event, Radhakumar expressed the need to declare all heritage sites of the State as "protected areas" .
He also underlined the need for properly maintaining all sites of historical and cultural heritage of Manipur.
Radhakumar stated that Manipur is known to the world for its rich culture and excellent performance in the field of sports.
He said that now the Manipur Government is working hard towards setting up of a cultural university.
He further stated that the Government has already acquired an area measuring 160 acre for the proposed cultural university.
As part of the function a team, which also included college students, led by Manipur State Archaeology Superintendent Dinamani inspected all stone inscriptions at Konthoujam Lairembi, Maharaj Marjit Leishangkhong (Wangoi), Maharaj Garibnawaz and Maharaj Marjit Ningol Village.
