Imphal, December 23, 2011:
Cadres of NSCN (K) clashed with those of GPRN/NSCN in Nagaland's Zunheboto district, in which one cadre of the latter was killed, the police said today.
In the clash that took place at Ghukiye village, about 15 km from Zunheboto town, a few others were also injured.
The united NSCN(K) was split in June when its chairman SS Khaplang was impeached by a section of leaders, leading to formation another group, the GPRN/NSCN.
Both the groups are in cease-fire with the Centre.
GPRN/NSCN sources said when some members were clearing jungle to set up a camp in Ghukiye village yesterday, NSCN(K) boys attacked them, killing one and injuring a few others.
An NSCN (K) leader described the incident as "very unfortunate and regrettable", claiming they asked their military wing to restraint its cadres from any retaliatory act after the recent stand-off at Dimapur.
A major clash between them had been averted recently at the intervention of the district administration and the civil societies at Dimapur when the cadres fired at each other.
However, that was sorted out and about 30 NSCN(K) cadre were escorted to their camp in Zunheboto.
