JAC demands compensation

The Joint Action committee (JAC) formed in connection with the bomb blast at Khunthak under Kasom Khullen subdivision of Ukhrul district on February 5 has once again urged the authority concerned to look into its demand and fulfil the same at the earliest.
The JAC has been demanding payment of ex-gratia and other assistances to the families of the victims.
One identified as Nk Adison died while K Hillary was injured in the blast on February 5 .
In a statement, the JAC said it is ready to take up all available means to confront the alleged indifferent attitude of the State Government if it continues to fails to meet the demand at the earliest.
The JAC also strongly denounced the alleged adamant attitude of local MLA, Victor Keishing in regard to the case.
The JAC demanded the resignation of Victor Keishing on moral ground as he has allegedly failed to understand the emotion, sentiment and aspiration of the people.
IPC school festival held.
The District Health Mission Society, Ukhrul today organized a one day Inter Personal Communication (IPC) school festival on anemia at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Wino Bazar, Ukhrul, reports Mungchan Zimik.
The festival was held with an aim to sensitize the student community on basic health care system.
Addressing the students during the function, Ukhrul SP Ningsem Vashum that said that success can be achieved if a person put in hard work relentlessly.
Extempore and essay competitions on theme "Anemia" also held.
A team of medical staff also conducted a free medical examination and distributed medicines to the students.
Prizes for the organised competitions were presented to the winners by Ningsem Vashum.
More than 250 students from 7 Government schools in Ukhrul along with their teachers attended the programme.
