Shamu's plays reviewed

A review meeting on plays written by eminent playwright late Pukhramba Shamu was held today at his birthplace Tera Lukram Leirak community hall under the aegis of Elite Group of Performing Arts (IGPA) .
The review meeting was moderated by Critic Forum Manipur president and well known critic Prof IS Kangjam.
The review meeting was participated by theatre critic/playwright Budha Chingtham, theatre critic Narendra Ningomba, theatre and literature critic BC Khuman, theatre director S Thaninleima, theatre director Chingtham Manikanta and theatre director Wareppa Naba.
The plays reviewed at the gathering were those staged at the theatre festival 'Expression' held at Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound from May 9 to June 4 .
Incidentally, the theatre festival was exclusively for plays written by Pukhramba Shamu.
The review meeting focused on the unique contributions of Pukhramba Shamu in Manipuri theatre.
Experiments by different theatre directors with newer interpretations of Shamu's plays was another major topic of the discussion programme.
The first theatre festival of Pukhramba Shamu was organised by IGPA with support from the Art and Culture Department and it is reported that the festival would be held every year.
