Jiribam, June 08 2014:
All Jiribam Working Journalists Union (AJWJU) and Manipur Chronicle jointly organised a one-day seminar on the topic, 'Jiribam: Its development and prospects (Perspective vision of a district)' at PWD Guest House today.
The seminar was inaugurated with lighting up of ceremonial lamp by Manipur Chronicle Publisher Seram Herojit.
Former Director of CDC, Manipur University, Dr RK Ranjan moderated the seminar.
Giving keynote address, AJWJU president Ng Bishwajit urged the gathering to put in effort to bring development in Jiribam by presenting a right perspective on the inconvenience being faced by people of the Sub-Division.
As a resource person, Jiri College Lecturer L Jaminikanta spoke on the topic, 'Jiribam: Full-fledged revenue district; A review' while senior journalist Irengbam Arun put light on the topic, 'Administrative set-up in Jiribam - A new perspective' .
Later in the seminar, Jiri College Lecturer Dr MS Jaman delved into the topic, 'Development deficit of Jiribam: An economic analysis in terms of its causes and solution while PIN Magazine Editor Th Sarat Kumar presented his view on the topic, 'Historical background of Jiribam: A Report' .
The seminar concluded with making an appeal to the participants to extend support in pressing the recommendation of the seminar to the Government.
